Rabies Case reported in Jullang, Pet Owners Advised to Vaccinate Their Pets

Following a case of rabies that has been reported in Jullang, Itanagar by the District Medical Officer (DMO), the Deputy Commissioner, ICR in an order has instructed all pet owners in the Capital Complex to ensure that their pets are administered with the requisite vaccination.


The DMO's report stated that the case of rabies occurred due to the animal not being vaccinated with the required vaccination dose. Noting that there is a large number of unvaccinated stray dogs in the entire jurisdiction of the Capital Complex, the DC has directed that all pet owners ensure that their pets are vaccinated.


In the event of any symptoms of rabies, the order asks that the same be reported to the concerned Commissioner, Itanagar (M.No.8732806330)/Naharlagun (M.No.8414861239) and Circle Officer, Banderdewa (M.No.9773912733) or the Senior Municipal Veterinary Officer, IMC, Itanagar (M.No.9436054319).


The order also directs the Extra Assistant Commissioner, Itanagar/Naharlagun and Circle Officer, Banderdewa, in liaison with the Senior Municipal Veterinary Officer, IMC, Itanagar and District Veterinary Officer, Itanagar/Yupia, to ensure that further preventive measures are taken, including the administration of the requisite vaccination of rabies to the stray dogs.
