Continuing their war against the drug menace, the Papumpare Police apprehended three people in separate operations on September 7 and 10, 2023 for peddling drugs.
Under the supervision of SP Papumpare Taru Gusar, IPS, a team was constituted under the leadership of DySP Maga Tago, SDPO, Papumpare Rural, comprising DySP (P) Tum Aje, Inspector Inya Ete, OC PS Doimukh, SI(P) Samuel Ngupok, SI(P) T. Diri, ASI Fangcha Dolo, ASI TD Goiba, ASI MA Nur, and Ct Subham Yadav, Ct M Welly, Ct P Talam, and L/Ct NU Lohan
On September 7, the police team intercepted two men, identified as Padma Pegu (26) of Naoligaon, North Lakhimpur, Assam, and Shiva Doley (22) of Morolia gaon, Panigaon, North Lakhimpur, near Dikrong Bridge in Doimukh. The arrest was made after the Papumpare Police received reliable information about drug peddling at Doimukh by two people who had come from Assam.
During the search, the police found 25.03 grams of suspected heroin, packed in two plastic pouches, in their possession. The police also seized 99 empty vials suspected to be used for drug delivery and two mobile phones.
In the second operation, the police team nabbed a woman drug peddler, identified as Marufa Khatun (23) of district Nagaon, Assam, near Gumto railway bridge.
On interrogation, Khatun disclosed that she had kept her suspected heroin at the Holiday Dhaba Hotel in Banderdewa. The police team then raided the hotel and seized 60.20 grams of suspected heroin, packed in five plastic pouches, from her possession. The police also seized 300 empty vials suspected to be used for drug delivery and two mobile phones.
Two NDPS cases have been registered at the Doimukh Police Station in connection with the case.
