CM Announces 22% Salary Hike, 3% DA for staff & Teachers, Regularization of 500 SSA Teachers

Chief Minister Pema Khandu announced on Tuesday that staff and teachers of KGBV, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Awasiya Vidyalaya (residential schools), BRCCs,  Vocational teachers and staff, including left out 529 ISSE teachers (erstwhile SSA) will receive a 22% salary hike and a 3% dearness allowance (DA).


In addition, Khandu said that 500 SSA teachers will be regularized this year. The announcement will benefit a total of 4,470 teachers and staff across the state, he said.

Khandu said that the decision was taken to improve the welfare of teachers and to attract and retain quality talent in the education sector. 

He announced this while speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the Teachers' Day celebration cum state teachers award distribution ceremony at the State Banquet Hall in Itanagar.



 In the meantime, he appealed to parents to help in the holistic growth of their children by not only relying on teachers.

"Parents should also participate in the education system by guiding and motivating their children, they have equal roles and not just rely on teachers,” the CM said.

Responding to a question from reporters about his election manifesto to regularize SSA teachers, Khandu claimed that since 2016, as per his manifesto has regularized 1,789 teachers.

"Since 2009, 1,273 teachers have been regularized, with more than 400 teachers being regularized each year. This year, the number has been increased to 500,” Pema Khandu added.

" I am not excited to regularize them, but I will be happy only when they produce results,” Khandu added.

" The state government is trying to provide facilities and is doing so, but in return, I convey to SSA teachers on behalf of the public that they should bring results,” Khandu said.
